So there's this commercial on TV for a dating company called 'It's Just Lunch." They recite quotes from people professing how wonderful it is. One gentleman says..."I'm a busy guy.' It's Just Lunch' set everything up...they set up the restaurant...they set up the date...they made it simple".
Here's how that plays out.
You fall head over heals in love with a guy who was initially too lazy to set up a first date. He wines and dines you, and says all the right things. But was it him...or was it 'It's Just Lunch'? Because, after all, he didn't have anything to do with your first date. ‘It’s Just Lunch’ set up everything. A corporation who garners income from love seeking, vulnerable, yearning individuals. Time goes on…and he proposes. Or did he? How much of that was him, and how much was a prompt from a professionally qualified matchmaker. You'll never know.
Now we move on to 'It's Just A Wedding". A beautiful ceremony conducted with the perfect flowers, music and decor. Your new husband even recited the perfect declaration of love at the alter. Or did he? Was it his heart speaking, or was it 'Susie-Sweet-Talk' who is a journalism major and got paid $100 to write something 'from the heart'.
Now we are on to 'It's Just a Baby'. Congratulations! You are on your way to starting a new family with the man of your dreams who orchestrated the most amazing baby shower. Or did he? Time rolls on, life throws out predictable unpredictability, and now we have....'It's Just a Divorce". He started spending late nights at the office because you smell like baby formula and favor sweatpants over stilettos. You are now fighting for custody of the kids and the recently purchased armoire in the living room.
After years of mending a broken heart, you are right back to "It's Just Lunch”. Again.
I'm pretty sure if a man is too lazy to set up a first date….the odds of him going that extra mile in your relationship aren’t that great either.
Find your Prince Charming going through life doing what you do. Go to the events you love and the restaurants you adore. Spend time with the friends that know you best. Save that money you would spend on a dating membership, and use it on an amazing getaway with the man of your dreams when you finally meet him.
Just be you. You are enough, and the right guy wont be too busy to sweep you off your feet all by himself.
But that's just my opinion..:)
